Limited Edition Reproductions of Books from the Republic of China period are one of the two main sub-projects under the program Bibliography of Chinese Literary and Social Science Academic Books of the Century. Since 2005, under the leadership of the Literature Resources Construction Working Group of the Higher Education Library Committee, the project has built upon decades of cataloging achievements of Republic of China period books compiled in China. A team of professional librarians from major university libraries has systematically collected and organized bibliographic records, selecting several humanities and social science academic publications for limited-edition reproduction. These publications mainly reflect the overall quality of academic book publishing and modern literary works in China during the Republic of China era. It is fair to say that this is, to date, the most systematic and extensive effort to reproduce and preserve Republican-era academic books and modern literary works in China.
