Introduction: 

This lecture will focus on optimizing research workflows and building essential research skills. The speaker, Shuhan Yang, who holds a Mater’s degree in Library and Information Science from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, is a former subject librarian and acquisition librarian with extensive experience in library practices and teaching. Her research interests include knowledge services and digital literacy. She will discuss common challenges in research, including efficient and accurate literature searches, effective topic analysis, staying updated with field advancements, managing large collections of literature, enhancing editing efficiency, and selecting suitable journals for submission. Using practical examples, she will demonstrate how the SCI (Science Citation Index) database on the Web of Science platform supports each step of the research workflow and strengthens research foundations. Participants will gain insights into using the SCI and Web of Science platform, accessing SCI journal lists, understanding impact factors, and developing skills for research success.
